NEW SPONSOR : MAISON & CO.

I want to introduce a brand new Design is Mine sponsor this week, Maison & Co., a privately-owned antique dealer based here in the U.S. Kendall Drake and Bernadette Truxal specialize in finding and selling gorgeous original antiques imported directly from Europe, including Sweden and France. They seem to have an amazing eye for great details- every hand-selected item stands out as a work of art, in my opinion. I also recommend checking out their Maison Collection, beautiful modern pieces to compliment their antiques.

Thanks for joining us, Maison & Co.!

TEN BEAUTIFUL VINTAGE PIECES.

When we knew we were relocating to California, I ended up getting rid of many of my possessions to make the move easier, rid my life of excess clutter, and start anew. This meant donating and selling a large percentage of the vintage goods I had thrifted for years and years. I do miss some of the things I left behind, but I'm looking forward to adding "new" vintage goodies to our brand new home. These are some I would absolutely love to acquire for sure.

1. Vintage Wood Coffee Table ($85, sale), 2. vase with china vintage porcellain Kaiser op art ($57.04), 3. Mid Century Hairpin Leg Planter ($49), 4. Mid-Century Welby Sunburst Clock ($145), 5. Walter Bosse style hedgehog ashtray set ($102.20), 6. Raymor Ceramic CatchAll Tray Schoolgirl Italy ($87), 7. vintage breyer deer / doe ($24), 8. Up, Up and Away - Vintage Handmade Hot Air Balloon ($128), 9. Mid Century Mod Corning Glassware Set ($12), and 10. Vintage Georges Briard Heavy Ceramic Planter or Ice Bucket ($30)

AYE AYE VINTAGE : MY NEW SHOP!

I have an exciting announcement today! After years and years of being a crazy collector of vintage treasures, I am finally letting go of much of it and selling it online! My new shop is called Aye Aye Vintage- it is filled with adorable household items from the 1920s-1970s. I will be frequently updating the listings from now on.

Please go take a look around!

TEN IMAGES OF INSPIRATION : GOODBYE GLOOM.

It has been such a gloomy day in Portland. The overcast skies and very un-summery weather has helped put me in a grumpy state of mind. So to all those feeling down or moody, here are ten images to bring on a little cheer.

INTERIOR INSPIRATION : KINDA KITSCHY.

As long as I can remember, I have been a lover of delightfully tacky things. I keep thinking that as I grow older, my yearning to surround myself with vintage kitschiness will diminish- but it truly hasn't. I have to stop myself from completely filling our home with crazy colors, velvet paintings, old toys, flowery wallpaper, and a million knick-knacks.

INTERIOR INSPIRATION : TYPEWRITERS.

In a time of crazy technology, there are a few old-fashioned items I like to surround myself with: records, film cameras, and typewriters. This evening I'll focus on the latter, which I have always crushed hard on. Not only can they be beautiful, but I still love using them whenever I can- the sound brings me comfort.
